Character Information
Name: Harry James Potter
Age & Date of Birth: 25 years old – July 31st, 1980.
House & Year: Gryffindor 1991-1999

History:
Pre-Hogwarts - Harry was born to Lily and James Potter, who had thrice defied Lord Voldemort. When he was a year old Voldemort learned of a prophecy that regarded both himself and a child born to those who had thrice defied him as the seventh month ended. Assuming that it was Harry Potter, Voldemort went to Godrics Hollow in an attempt to kill young Harry. In order to protect their son Lily and James Potter gave their lives. When Voldemort turned his wand onto Harry and cast the Killing Curse, the spell backfired, tearing him from his physical body. When Harry was discovered afterward, Dumbledore placed him into the care of his only living relatives, Petunia and Vernon Dursley.

Harry’s life at the Dursley’s was not what one would call a pleasant stay. His Aunt and Uncle were not particularly fond of Harry’s ability to do magic. Petunia, throughout his years at their house, showed obvious jealousy over the fact that her sister Lily was gifted with magical abilities and she was not. To hide her jealousy, she turned it into hatred toward the very idea of magic, calling her sister a ‘freak’, leaving Harry to carry the brunt of that hatred. As he grew up, he watched his cousin Dudley receive gift after gift and celebrate his birthday and Christmas, while he was never given the same sort of devotion. He was often belittled and blamed for everything that went wrong in the house. He didn’t know it at the time that he was ‘leaking’ magic, but the Dursley’s did and they didn’t like it at all.

Harry didn’t have very many chances to make friends. He wasn’t really allowed to interact with other kids because of the combination of Dudley’s bullying and Vernon and Petunia’s desire to keep his ‘abnormalities’ from prying eyes. It wasn’t until Hogwarts that Harry made his first real friend.

Year One - During Harry's first year he made close friends with Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger. He developed a rivalry with Draco Malfoy. He was an average student. He learned to ride a broom and discovered that he was a natural at it. He was made a member of the Gryffindor Quidditch team, the youngest house player in a century. During this year, it became evident that Voldemort was trying to infiltrate the school to try to get a Philosopher's Stone which was hidden in the third floor. Harry eventually uncovered the plot and chased Quirrell, who was being controlled by Voldemort, down into a series of chambers under the school. Here, with Ron and Hermione, Harry overcame numerous challenges and eventually faced Quirrell and Voldemort. Harry successfully protected the Stone from Voldemort, although he was seriously injured in the process, and spent three days unconscious in the hospital wing afterwards.

Year Two - During Harry's second year at school, he, Ron and Hermione were still strong friends and Draco Malfoy was still his biggest rival at school. The summer between first and second year had not been a good experience for Harry. On top of living with his relatives, Harry met Dobby, a houself who was determined to prevent him from returning to Hogwarts. After an incident with a pudding and some important guests of Vernon's, Vernon put bars outside of Harry's window, preventing him from escaping. If it hadn't been for Ron, the Twins and their fathers flying Ford Anglia he might not have made it back for his second year. After thwarting Dobby's attempts at keeping him out of school and the Whomping Willows attempts at smashing him and Ron to pieces Harry started an eventful school year. It was during his second year that the Chamber of Secrets was opened by Ginny Weasley, who was being controlled by a memory of Tom Riddle (Voldemort). In order to defeat him and save Ginny, Harry and Ron traveled into the Chamber of Secrets with Gilderoy Lockheart. When a part of the tunnel collapsed separating him from Ron and Lockheart, Harry continued on alone. With the help of Fawkes, the Sorting Hat and the sword of Gryffindor Harry killed the Basilik and destroyed Tom Riddle's Journal.

Year Three - In Harry's third year Sirius Black escaped from Azkaban. Unbeknown to him, Sirius Black was a friend of his father's and was, in fact, Harry's Godfather. During this year, he also met Remus Lupin, another friend of James. During this year, Harry learned a lot about his father and his friends, The Mauraders. He discovered that it had not been Sirius, but Peter Petegrew that betrayed his parents. When he found out the truth Harry was incredibly happy that he would not have to go back to the Dursley's, for Sirius had offered to let Harry come and live with him. Unfortunately, Remus had forgotten to take his Wolfsbane potion and transformed under the Full Moon. In the chaos that ensued Peter escaped and the Dementors attempted to suck the soul from Harry and Sirius' bodies. When they were found at the lake Sirius was taken into Custody and locked in one of the towers of Hogwarts. Without Peter Harry could not prove that Sirius was innocent. Using Hermione's timeturner, the two of them went back in time to save not only Hagrid's hippogryff Buckbeak but Sirius as well.

Year Four - This was a rather eventful year for Harry. This was the year that the Triwizard tournament was held at Hogwarts. Students from Beaubatons and Durmstrang traveled to the castle to take part. The rules stated that only students 17 or older could put their name in the cup. Unfortunately, Barty Crouch. Jr. (who was disguised as Mad-Eye Moody) put Harry's name in the cup, registered under a fourth school, meaning that he was chosen as one of the Champions along side Cedric Diggory as Hogwarts Champion, Fleur Delacour as Beaubaton's Champion, and Viktor Krum as Durmstrang's Champion. Harry and Ron had a massive blow out over the events that took place. Ron thinking that Harry and kept him in the dark. During the tournament Harry had to get passed a Hungarian Horntail, rescue Ron from the Merpeople and make his way through a maze to find the Triwizard cup. Both himself and Cedric reached the cup together and agreed to share the prize. When they touched it they were port keyed to the Graveyard where Voldemort's father was buried. Cedric was murdered in front of Harry and Voldemort used Harry's blood to regain his body. During their fight, their brother wands connected and Voldemort's wand regurgitated images of the people he had murdered, including Harry's parents. With their help Harry was able to escape and take Cedric's body back to the school.

Year Five - During the summer before this year Harry and Dudley were attack by Dementors in Little Whinging. Upon using magic outside of school and in the presence of a Muggle Harry was almost suspended from Hogwarts but Dumbledore managed to get him a hearing instead. Luckily, he was cleared of all charged and was allowed to attend Hogwarts. The strange thing for Harry was that Dumbledore was all but ignoring his very presence. During this year Harry's connection with Voldemort through the scar on his forehead grew to be a danger to himself and others. To make matters worse Dolores Umbridge became the Defence Against the Dark Arts teacher and started making proclamations that restricted all activities at Hogwarts. In her classes she informed the students that Voldemort had not returned and taught them theory instead of practical magic. Having enough of this, Hermione suggested Harry teach them and that led to the creation of Dumbledore's Army. When they were discovered Dolorus tried to have Dumbledore arrested but he disappeared from Hogwarts before he could be. After this Harry began to receive images from Voldemort of Sirius being tortured in the Department of Mysteries. Not having anyone to turn to Harry , Ron, Hermione, Ginny, Luna, and Neville went to the Ministry to save him only to find out it had been a plot by Voldemort. They held off Lucius and the Death Eaters for a while before Sirius and the Order showed up. Bellatrix Lestrange and Sirius had begun dueling in front of Harry's eyes and Bellatrix hit Sirius in the chest with a spell, knocking him into the Veil, killing him. Harry took off after Bellatrix but was stopped by Voldemort. Finally Dumbledore arrived and started to duel with Voldemort but the Dark Lord tried to possess Harry, but Harry managed to push him out.

Year - It was during this year that Harry began to learn about the Horcruxes Voldemort had created and that he learned of the Half-blood Prince. Professor Snape finally got his wish of teaching defense Against the Dark Arts and Professor Slughorn took up as resident Potions Master. On top of Hermione's growing annoyance at his success thanks to the book that had belonged to the Half-blood Prince he also had to deal with their skepticism that Draco Malfoy was up to something in the Room of Requirements. For the entire year, he tried to find out what Draco was up to but failed. Closer to the end of the year, Dumbledore brought Harry along with him to locate a Horcruxes (Slytherin's Locket). They found the place where it was hidden and Harry had to force Dumbledore to drink the poison surrounding it. After Harry had touched the water in hopes of getting the Headmaster something to drink, he had his first experience of Inferi. Thankfully, Dumbledore managed to get them out of danger. When they arrived back at the school the dark mark hung over the top of the Astronomy tower. Harry hid under the invisibility cloak, frozen to the spot, while Dumbledore talked with Draco. Half way through their conversation, Snape and the other Death Eaters arrived. Snape killed Dumbledore and fled with Draco. Harry chased after him once the spell holding in place had vanished. When he faced Snape, Harry discovered that Snape was the Half-Blood Prince. After Dumbledore's funeral Harry broke up with Ginny Weasley and decided that he would not be returning to Hogwarts for his last year, instead he was going looking for the Horcruxes.

Year Seven - True to his word, Harry set out with Ron and Hermione to find the Horcruxes, much to Molly Weasley's displeasure. Harry was put through many trial over the course of the year. The attacks by Voldemort, the death of Hedwig and Dobby, hunting down the Horcruxes, Dealing with Dumbledore's Death, visiting his parents graves and facing his own destiny to kill Voldemort. With the help of a goblin and his friends, Harry managed to locate and destroy all of the Horcruxes he had known about. He also discovered something about himself. When he saw Snape die, Snape had given him his memories and from those memories, Harry discovered that Voldemort had unintentionally made Harry a Horcruxes. In order to destroy him, Harry would have to die. Facing his destiny, Harry went to Voldemort and did not raise his wand as Voldemort cast the killing curse, sacrificing himself for the rest for the Wizarding World. In doing so, he placed a protection over them, like his mother had done for him. When he was hit with the killing curse he had a chance to talk with Dumbledore before choosing to return or remain dead. Harry chose to return and finish what he had started. Voldemort thought he won but in a duel between the two of them, Harry came out victorious and the world was finally free of Voldemort.

After Hogwarts - For Harry, who had not allowed himself to plan for the future given the high possibility of dying, the thought of ‘after’ was something exciting. There were hundreds of things he wanted to do, most importantly, he wanted to choose his own path in life. Up until that point, his life had been pretty much dictated by the Prophecy. The people close to him had tried to give him as much room as possible, but fate always seemed to get in the way.

The first thing he wanted to do was become an Auror, unfortunately, there was one thing still getting in his way. Due to the Trio’s hunt for the Horcruxes, Harry had not finished his final year at Hogwarts and therefore did not have the necessary OWL’s to qualify for the training program. So instead of immediately taking his spot within the Ministry, Harry returned with Ginny for his final year. Not only was this year at school necessary, but it allowed him to work and fix his and Ginny’s shaky relationship. He had felt guilty for leaving her behind in the hands of the Carrows and for not standing up for her when her mother said it was to dangerous to go out into the final battle. He knew he had been trying to protect her but he also knew that she didn’t want another person trying to protect her. Over the course of that year, he worked as hard as he could to show her that he wasn’t going to become another overbearing, protective person in her life.

Classes for that year were far more relaxed than they had been during his previous years. Professor McGonagall still expected you to pay attention in class and focus on your school work, but the light-hearted feeling that had enveloped the Wizarding world after the fall of Voldemort couldn’t be denied. Harry, in particular, felt this. He was immensely glad for not having people keeping an eye on him. Privacy had always been something that was really important to him and now he was able to get a little more of it, despite the reporters that constantly attempted to corner him.

On top of spending time with Ginny, Harry also spent a lot more time with Ron and Hermione, doing things that the three of them never really had the time for before. During the warmer months the three of them were often seen outside on the ground, more than likely on the Quidditch pitch. While Hermione still wasn’t a fan of flying, she did agree to sit in the stands and watch the boys play. On most occasions she would also be healing one or both of them from the injuries they sustained while flying about the pitch. That was something, he could say that both he and Ron were immensely grateful for.

Once graduation finally came Harry entered the Auror Training Program with determination. He’d never been one to put a lot of hard work into his studies before, but this was different. This was something that he truly wanted to do. And over the years that he’s been in the Ministry he’s worked incredibly hard and will continue to do so, moving up the ladder when the opportunity presents itself.

Things with Ginny eventually worked out for the best. Given both their lively tempers it took a lot of hard work, but he wouldn’t change a thing about it. Ginny understands him far more than anyone else could, including Ron and Hermione. Despite this, Harry still had his insecurities. Before the relationship could be taken further, he had to deal with those. After three years of dating, Harry finally asked the question that everyone was waiting for. He’d known he’d loved her at Hogwarts but marriage was something more, something bigger.

Together, Harry and Ginny, put a lot of time and effort into creating their home. Like the Burrow it is already being filled with memories and comfort. In 2004, their son James Sirius Potter was born and Harry couldn't have been happier. He's always wanted a family and is more than grateful that he's finally been given the opportunity to have one.

Personality: Harry has always been relatively easy to get along with. After the defeat of Voldemort it became all the more easier. Harry’s personality benefited with Voldemort’s death. He still likes to do some things on his own and he does still have the tendency to try and protect the ones he loves from harm, but he’s much more open with sharing things, both emotional and physical. Having a family has also played an important role on opening him up. He loves Ginny and James and knows that in order for them to be a family he has to be there both physically and mentally. By keeping to himself he’d be cutting them out and he doesn’t want that.

Not having a family growing up has affected how he relates and interacts with the one he has now. In many ways he compensates for what he didn’t have by making sure that James (and Ginny) have everything that they need. For him, he would spend his last sickle making them happy. Taking that into effect, Harry has a strong tendency to spoil not only James but Teddy, as well. More often then not this aspect of himself can get him into trouble with not only his wife but Andromeda.

While his spoiling often gets him into trouble, he is very glad to have Ginny to counterbalance him. He knows that there are things that James needs that he simply doesn’t do well. An example? He doesn’t like to reprimand James or Teddy but knows that some times they do need it...in fact, more often then not the boys are getting into trouble they know they shouldn’t.

Being an Auror takes up a lot of his time and he knows that he is missing a lot of time with his family. For the most part Harry does try to make up for it by spending time with them when it is available.

While Ginny misses the noise of the Burrow because she has grown up around it, Harry misses it because he never had that before he met the Weasley’s. When the James is sleeping the house is relatively quite and he’ll do pretty much anything to keep some sort of noise in the house whether it’s the television, the radio, or simply making Ginny laugh.

While a lot has changed within Harry over the years, some things will always remain the same. Whenever he and Ron are together, Ginny and Hermione often remark that they’re twelve year old boys all over again and it’s true. Whenever he’s with Ron, it’s like they’re back at Hogwarts looking for more trouble to get into. His love of Quidditch has also remained strong and he doesn’t like to miss a game at Hogwarts, despite knowing that the kids don’t particularly like it.

Appearance: In many ways Harry has changed as he’s grown older. Of course there are also things about his appearance that haven’t. His scar, while slightly lighter, can still be seen on his forehead and it a clear reminder to not only him, but everyone who sees it, of what exactly he’s been through. Harry still despises the small scar. It draws attention that he’d rather not have, which in turn leads to his hair style. As long as the scar is visible, his hair will always be just long enough to cover it. The unmanageable quality of his hair has not changed. It is still as wild as it was when he 11.

Thankfully, one aspect of his appearance that has changed is his wardrobe. Gone are the over-sized garments to be replaced by ones that are particularly made to fit him. While, he isn’t Malfoy, he does like to have respectable clothing. Due to his position at the Ministry, his wardrobe has moved away from just jeans and a t-shirt. Most of the time he can be found in either Official Auror robes or dresser muggle clothes, ie: pressed trousers, button down shirt. This isn’t to say that he doesn’t still have the jeans and a t-shirt, but they’re reserved mostly for relaxing with his friends and family.
